I got tagged by @Swords and Spectres to do the Meet the Book Blogger thing, so here I am, doing it. It has been a while since I did a tag I feel, and I have to say I am excited for it.
The rules are simple: nominate 10 other bloggers, and don’t change the questions. And I am probably going to break the first because I am lazy.
Who is your all-time favourite book character?
This has to be Pippin. I don’t know how much of my love for him is from the books and how much the movie, but I don’t care. He is full of mischief, loves food, drink and being merry, and overall just doesn’t take things too serious. Yet he is an amazing friend who doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice to help others. No doubt, he is my favourite character.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which book would you take with you? (Survival books do not count)
Originally I was going for The Martian, for purposes of motivation and inspiration. Sure, I doubt this island will be on Mars and I would be stranded with a bunch of fancy equipment. But, I feel I could use a reminder now and then of thinking out of the box and making the best with what you’ve got.
But then I thought I should just bring a Big book instead. I have got hardly any survival skills. When starting the woodstove we often use some crumpled up newspapers… so I would like to have a decent source of paper to use as fire starters (also I heard somewhere that some crumpled paper stuffed inside your clothes can help with insulation).
So I am going for a big book. Apparently the longest book is The Blah Story, which has 7312 pages. So that would be a good option.
But… the phone book is also quite big. Sure, not nearly as big, but still big (google doesn’t want to tell me how big exactly, but the Dutch version from 1915 was over 700 pages), and it has coloured pages. Maybe that might help in some way to attract attention…. and people might frown less on me for destroying a phone book :p
Am I overthinking this? Definitely
What’s your most unpopular book opinion?
Uhm… Ender’s Game is a really bad book.
What’s your weirdest bookish habit?
I have no idea. I am quite weird overall. I don’t like to read books in my native language. I guess that is quite weird.
What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?
This whole situation feels weird to me, because Dave. So I am guessing Dave cannot join me in this occasion and I would have to find someone to stand in for him. Which would be possible I guess because my extended family have seen him only once (if at all). We aren’t close.
The only character that comes to mind would be Clay Cooper… but younger. He has a very similar kind of humour to Dave, and a beard.
What made you decide to start a book blog?
I had been watching Booktube for a while and everyone was Loving the Throne of Glass series. And so I bought the whole series before reading even a single book. And then I read the first book, and Hated it. With a passion. What a waste of money that was.
And so I started this blog. To be the one voice of reason among all the Maas trash, and warn people to not invest in the series.
What about reading and books do you love the most?
I have a weird taste in that it is quite broad, but also weirdly specific. And the kind of stories I like aren’t usually made into tv/movies. And if they do, they will adapt it because ‘sex sells’… but for me it does the opposite. Also, my attention span isn’t long enough for most series and movies. But I can put an audiobook on whilst doing other things.
What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?
I studied biology, specializing in nature conservation and systems ecology. I graduated almost 4 years ago now, still unsuccesful to find a job in that direction. I usually work in the restaurant of a zoo, but because of lockdown that has been closed for almost 4 months now. So earlies this month I started working at the vaccination centre doing admin and all kinds of odd jobs.
My desired profession? I honestly don’t know anymore. My ultimate desire is to ‘safe the world’. It sounds cheesy, I know. But I want to help, be usefull. As long as I can do that, I enjoy a lot of jobs.
What are some book recommendations that became your favourites/obsessions?
My old roommate made me read this series, and now I am obsessed with Michael J. Sullivan.
What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?
And that was it. I did have fun. But I am still to lazy to tag people. So feel free to tag yourself if you want to.
Hoping you are having a lovely day,
