Every month I post my favourites on here. Seeing as food will always be one of my favourites, and I didn’t want to clutter up those posts with it, I decided to dedicate a whole separate series of posts on things I ate in the last month. I am a semi-vegan. Basically, I am vegetarian who tries to eat vegan as much as possible. So here are some things I ate this month:
I have to start off with our visit to Veggieworld, where we tried out all kinds of stuff (but mainly all kinds of cheeses and sausages). Best looking was probably the vegan salmon, but although the look and texture of it were spot on, the taste was lacking. Taste was not a problem at all in the cupcakes we had (Baileys and Oreo), nor in the Gyros Waffle Sandwich we got for lunch. Overall, we had a great day and tried out lots and lots of very yummy things.
Next on trying things when eating out of the door is an Amazing restaurant we visited on our holiday in Thessaloniki: all you can eat vegan buffet for 10 euro. Safe to say we ate here more than once, and each time we ate so much it hurt to breathe. And the food was Amazing. We reused our plates, so the pics ain’t the prettiest. Deal with it. They had a great variety of dishes… all kinds of salads, rice dishes, curried potatoes, mousaka, gyros, wine stewed mushrooms. I know they also do breakfast, but we didn’t get a chance to check that out.
This month was a month of lots of comfort food for us: Homemade burgers (like the Burrito Burger – recipe by The Happy Pear), Falafel wraps, and shoarma. It is just so satisfying and so easy to make.
We also had some ‘healthier’ meals… such as Ratatouille Risotto (Recipe by Bosh), Green Goddess Pasta Salad, Udon Noodles in a curry broth with crispy tofu, Pumkin Pasta (Recipe by Hot For Food), Creamy Mushroom Pasta, Pita with Grilled Aubergine and Harissa Humus, and left-over salad with nuggets and a green vegetable pastry (which my shitty oven slightly burned – it has spinach, endive, leek, spring onion and lots of green herbs).
So those are some things I ate last month. I am getting Bosh’s new cookbook in soon, so my next month ‘What I ate…’ might be a review of that. We shall see…
